The Lookout

For nearly a decade, the Lookout has been the most popular pack High Above offers. Adaptable yet simple, the Lookout fits perfectly and offers a combination of fit that disappears behind you when worn with enough room to carry everything you need for a day on the trails. 


The Lookout is built to last with waterproof materials, invincible construction and smart, simple details. The pack comes standard with a Fidlock magnetic buckle for easy on/of and a satisfying "click" that let's you know the pack is secure. 

Item Details

  • Size: 9" x 5.5" x 3.5” (~2.7L Capacity)
  • Materials: Heavy Duty Ecopak EPLX shell fabric is made of 100% recycled polyester, and is treated with C0 DWR. Heavy duty YKK #8 Aquaguard zippers to keep things dry and protected.
  • Fidlock Waistbelt Buckle: Easy to use and super secure, and won't loosen up.
  • Storage: Three interior pockets plus an additional weather resistant external zippered pocket keep things organized, and a key lanyard makes sure car keys don’t wander away.
  • Bottle Rocket: Our removable bottle carry system, all packs ship with one bottle rocket that comes mounted on the right side, but can be moved to the left if you prefer. A second bottle rocket (sold separately) can be added for those who need to carry a bit more.
  • ETC Straps: removable but included straps allow bulky items like jackets or pads to be attached to the top of the pack, away from rear wheel spray.

The best hip pack

The Lookout is the best hip pack, without exaggeration. It stays close to the lower back and does not flop around. It is overbuilt. It is just the right size to hold a first aid kit, pump (under 9”), multi tool, tire levers, valve core remover, chain link pliers, a few bars, telephone, keys, etc. A light shell can be rolled up and attached to the top with the ETC straps. I also have a spare tube strapped to the frame. I would recommend a second bottle rocket, and the trail first aid kit. The trail first aid kit is a good kit, and it fits inside the large inside pocket. Don’t forget 22 oz water bottles, if you don’t already have a few.

Bottle holder too small

A standard water bottle will fit snugly in the water bottle holder. Lift the drawstring out of the pouch and insert a water bottle or small Gatorade bottle, then snug up the drawstring. The pack itself is well made
