The Venture

Built for the modern enduro rider who wants a stable pack that’s easy to access on the fly, the Venture is a mid-sized option great for rides from a few hours to half a day. The flap style opening means you can get in and out with one hand, even while riding, and the pack is designed to fit close to the body to keep things in control on those rowdy descents.

The Venture comes standard with a Fidlock magnetic buckles on both the flap closure and the waist belt for maximum security and a satisfying "click".

Item Details

  • Size: 9" x 5.5" x 2.5” (~2.2L Capacity)
  • Materials: Heavy Duty Challenge Ecopak EPLX body fabric with robust Fidlock magnetic pack closure, YKK #8 Aquaguard zippers for ultimate weatherproofness and durability.
  • Fidlock Buckles: Easy to use and super secure, the Venture uses Fidlock magnetic buckles on both the closure flap and the waistbelt.
  • Storage: Three interior pockets plus an additional weather resistant external zippered pocket keep things organized, and a key lanyard makes sure car keys don’t wander away.
  • ETC Straps - removable but included straps allow bulky items like jackets or pads to be attached to the top of the pack, away from rear wheel spray.
  • Made in the Pacific Northwest, USA by hands that care.

Bottle Options

  • Bottle Rocket - our classic removable Bottle Rocket, which can hold a small water bottle (22 oz), your favorite canned beverage, or anything else you feel like stowing in there. We do not recommend putting full Large 26oz bottles in the Bottle Rocket, simply because that amount of weight will cause the pack to feel unbalanced and wobbly.
  • Quickdraw - the upgraded Quickdraw bottle system by Fidlock is a super quick and easy magnetic attachment that can be grabbed and stowed with one hand while riding. Includes 15 oz / 450 mL Fidlock bottle (NOT dishwasher safe).

Note: Whether you choose the standard Bottle Rocket or Quickdraw option, an additional Bottle Rocket (sold separately) can always be installed on the other wing.

Due to the construction of the wing, Quickdraw system cannot be retrofitted to existing packs, sorry!

Bikepacking through the Black Forest (Germany)

I used the Venture 2.2L during a bikepacking trip across the Black Forest, and it performed really well.
It stays perfectly in place, even when fully loaded, no movement or bouncing, and no pressure points at the hips. I didn’t experience any discomfort, even after long hours on the bike.
Despite its compact size, it offers a surprising amount of storage. The internal layout is smart, with useful compartments that help keep things organized without overthinking it.
Overall, it felt reliable and well-balanced. A solid choice for carrying essentials without getting in the way.

Simple, well made, and you don’t even notice it when you’re riding.

Comfortable, stays put

Wore it for a ride few days after I got it and barely noticed it was on. Easy to access, a great pack.

Buy Once Cry Once

After thorough research on mountain biking hip packs I finally settled on the Venture. Is it a bit of a splurge? Yes. Do you get what you pay for? Absolutely, Yes.

All of the details are nailed down and the shape of the Venture feels tailor-made to the small of my back. The Fidlock buckles are sturdy and secure. The size of the Venture is deceiving with room for multitool and chain pliers, zip ties, High Above first aid kit, iPhone, wallet, keys, red taillight for dusky rides back home, spare UDH, and trail snacks. The top straps are less secure for attaching kneepads due to the angular shape of the pack, but I don't think a cinched down shell would be any issue- a good tradeoff for the lower profile of this pack vs. the boxier structured shape of the Lookout.

I also purchased a High Above spare bottle rocket and Dark Matter Tube Strap to carry a spare tube, levers, and tire plug kit. My only disappointment was the bottle rocket did not come with a water bottle like some of the other reviews mentioned, but that's my bad more than anything. My full setup also includes a OneUp EDC pump with CO2 cartridge to cover all of my needs.

The attention to detail in all of the High Above products I purchased can't be overstated and you can tell the gear is designed and purposefully built by actual people who use it. I cannot wait to enjoy this pack on many adventures on my local trails and beyond!
